This is the link for the video of this tutorial.
The first step is preparing the 3D model files and the footprint of the component. We can download these two files from the component distributor website eg: Mouser, Digikey, Ultra Librarian and etc.
- Go to the Mouser website and search for the component that we want. In this tutorial, I use N-channel MOSFET from Infineon, IPB70N10S3L-12.
2. Next, we need to unzip the file that we just download and make sure there are two types of files. The *.stp file for the 3D model and *.lbr for the footprint.
3. After that, we will upload these files to Eagle folder. Once the uploading process is done we will see these two files inside our Eagle folder.
4. Now, we need to open the footprint file and add a new 3D model.
5. Go to the 3D files, right-click on the file then chose “insert into current design”
6. As we can see now, we have successfully inserted the 3D model into the footprint. We can adjust the position of the 3D model by click-drag the arrows. Once we finish adjusting the position then we can save the file and click the finish button.
7. Finally, we can save the new version of the library, and then the component will be available for the schematic as well as the 3D model of it.
